“Smile at the world and the world smiles at you.”
Let the image shift. Stay with the words. What changes in your reading?
For me, POWER is rooted in personal qualities – personally, I strive for the ability to lift, show inclusiveness, be selfless, give space, give chances. I always try to be positive, meet others with a positive mindset and see the positive, even in the most difficult things and situations in life. We need to help each other – LISTEN to the individual and their stories – that’s what shapes us and makes us who we are. I’m not saying you have to love everyone, but you have to accept and respect each person for exactly who they are. Everyone is responsible for their own happiness, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t support and help where you can. And remember, what’s right for you is not necessarily right for others. I believe in the imperfect, the imperfect – I believe that everyone is good at something, that everyone is doing their best. Some just need help to find their way in life, to what makes them thrive. There is room for everyone. My wish is for everyone to step back and create that space. For me, diagnoses help make people unique. A diagnosis is not the person, but it guides and often people with diagnoses develop some very special, beautiful qualities, just like people who don’t carry a diagnosis! I believe that everything happens for a reason and that the absolute greatest power is LOVE – for life, my family and my fellow human beings. Every day I practice being the best version of myself and every day I learn something new from and about my surroundings.
